1962 Chevrolet Corvair Greenbrier Van
Show winning time capsule.
This 1962 Greenbrier is a California Native sold new at Angels Camp 49r Chevrolet and lived its entire life in California up until my ownership. It even has the original 1963 California plates on it. The van is rust free and unrestored original with the exception of one repaint in approximately 1978 and having the seats recovered around the same time. I purchased the van out of the estate from the original owner a bit more than a year ago where it had been in storage for years. I did all the maintenance repairs from sitting which included brakes, fuel system, new carburetors, oil seals, shocks, polished the paint, and gave it a professional detail. The outcome is that the van looks, runs, and drives just like it would have back in 1963, if not a little bit better. Everything in on and around the van works. This includes all the lights, wipers, heater, windows, and so on. The clutch is in great condition and doesn’t slip, the steering is tight and free of any abnormalities and even has all the original T3 headlights. Brand new wheels and tires were installed less than a year ago, but the original steel wheels, chrome Chevy hubcaps, and factory steering wheel will be included in the sale to make it all original again if the buyer so chooses. The paint has a great shine to it still and looks awesome with the exception of a few small blemishes as you can expect with paint that is 42 years old. Inside of the van is truly like going back in time and would be as if you were sitting in a showroom looking at it back in 1963. I did have carpeting installed over the original floor mats to help keep the sound out and the heat/cool in. I have not seen a Greenbrier van this clean, original, and rust free in years. I am sure that the next owner will be just as pleased and get just as many compliments as it has gotten me. You can not go anywhere without getting more attention than vehicles that cost ten times this one does.
